Volunteer Policy 2026
Every year, we rely on volunteers to make our swim meets successful. We do not require swimmers to compete in meets; however, we do require ALL families to serve a set amount of minimum volunteer points. Without Volunteers, we could not have a team! Families must complete 6 volunteer points by the end of the season. Committing to the Swim Team means you are committing to be a volunteer. Each volunteer shift only lasts one half of the meet. Volunteers are needed at both home and away meets. Families should try to balance their points “equally” between home and away meets. This is a big help as we head into the season to ensure we have full coverage both home and away.
Volunteer Job Descriptions and their point values are listed HERE. More difficult jobs are worth 2 points each; easier jobs or those with less time commitment are worth fewer points. Please read carefully before selecting your position(s). No prior swimming experience is needed to do any job (with the exception of Stroke & Turn Judge and Starter). They all take just a few minutes to learn. If you need help finding a job that fits your needs, please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator prior to signing up.
Volunteer Shift registration will open May 29th at 12:00pm. Volunteer shifts are given on a first come, first serve basis; so if your time is limited, we recommend signing up as early as possible to get dates that work for you.
If by chance all of the shifts for your assigned position have been filled for the season, please contact us as soon as possible so we can assign you another job.
In addition, we ask that you signup for all of your volunteer shifts by July 1. Failing to do so may result in your child being deemed ineligible to swim at upcoming meets. This is important so we don't end up short-handed at a meet. It is very important that you sign up early!
Important notes for all volunteer jobs:
- It is your responsibility to know what jobs you have signed up for, what is required for that job, arrival time, end time, and to make sure your family completes the minimum necessary points.
- It is essential all volunteers check in with the Volunteer Coordinator on time. Volunteers who do NOT check in by the time of the “job start” may run the risk of being “replaced” by another volunteer and will NOT get points for that job shift. We realize things happen - if you are coming but running late, please email [email protected] to alert us.
- Based on the volunteer needs of the meet, the Volunteer Coordinator reserves the right to reassign any volunteer to a necessary, unfilled position
- Job lanyards should be worn at all times during meets
- Families who do not show up for their volunteer position will NOT get points for that job shift.
- Please serve the ENTIRE shift even if you have a younger child who finishes earlier.
- Families who volunteer above and beyond the minimum requirements will be eligible for gift cards at the end of the season.
PENALTY FEES
If, for some reason, you do not complete your entire volunteer requirement by the end of the season, we will assess a penalty fee as follows: 1 incomplete point $85, 2 incomplete points $170, 3 incomplete points $250, 4 incomplete points $340, 5 incomplete points $425, 6 incomplete points $500. This penalty fee is pre-authorized within your registration. Should you not pay in full, your swimmer will not be eligible to swim in subsequent seasons.
